Resource Informagen™ - Scope of Research Reports

Resource Informagen is the proud result of four years of concerted data sourcing, data retrieval, and analysis of companies in the biotechnology arena. Resource Informagen consists of research reports presented in a consistent format. The format lends a uniform structure to the information, making reports easier to read, compare and use. Each research report contains indepth analysis and information on the following topics:

  • Company Name
  • Mission Statement
  • Mergers-Acquisitions-Subsidiaries
  • Initial Public Offering
  • Financial History
  • Major Shareholders
  • Agreements-Collaborations
  • Legal Issues
  • Clinical Trial Status
  • Regulatory Approvals
  • Technologies
  • Products
  • Address Fields
  • Executives
  • Year Founded
  • Phone
  • Fax
  • Internet Address
  • Stock Exchange
  • Stock Symbol
  • SIC Code

Given the broad scope of "biotech", Resource Informagen comprises information on many different companies, including biotech, genomic, bioinformatic, pharmaceutical, diagnostic, medical device, supplier-vendor, CROs, cell depositories, etc. It is not within the scope of Resource Informagen to provide the same depth of information on all of these different types of companies. For example, supplier - vendors may be listed in a brief bibliographic format which may not be updated that often. A large agricultural company may be listed with somewhat more detail, if it is involved in a biotech partnership or internal biotech program, but little, if any, information will be provided on such a company's non-biotech activities. This is also true of bioremediation or medical device companies. Reports which will have the most comprehensive and up-to-date information will be those companies deemed to be true "biotech" companies and their big pharma sponsors.

Information on any particular company can easily be obtained by reading the company's research report. Some companies have much more detailed and complete reports than others. This may be because (1) public companies make much more information available to the public for SEC and investor relations reasons, (2) private companies are often small and do not have the obligation of public dissemination of information and oftentimes have not set up the internal infrastructure for investor relations, product advertising, or corporate communications, (3) some companies are more clearly "biotech" than others, (see Definition of Biotech) and (4) company reports are updated periodically with only a portion of 2270 US companies being updated at any one time.

The full reports contain data from the time frame of 1994 at the earliest through 1998. If a report has very little data, it may be that very little data is publicly available on that particular company or that the company is on the periphery of biotech (such as supplier - vendors) and was included in the listing, but never designated to be updated in the depth of more mainstream biotech companies or that we are aware of the company and want to track it in detail, but just haven't updated it yet.
